The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has been a staple in the full-size pickup field for many years thanks to its broad range of available trim levels, its solid handling, along with its interior quality and technology features.

The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 hits the road with an updated look in addition to a slew of new features.

Changes for the 2022-year model include a restyled premium interior on the LT trim and up, which includes a standard 13.4-inch touchscreen, along with new technology, including available Super Cruise driver-assistance technology on the High Country trim with available trailering, and a standard Chevy safety assist on all-new trims. The exterior features a new design across the lineup, which includes a new front fascia and new daytime running lamps.

Most notably, Chevrolet introduced the new flagship ZR2 model, which delivers off-road capabilities straight from the factory. The ZR2 combines immersive tech, a host of standard safety features, a premium interior, and off-road capabilities into one dynamic package. Highlights include a standard V8 engine, spool-valve dampers, uniquely-tuned springs, 33-inch off-road tires, among other features.

Exterior Review of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Each Silverado 1500 trim receives a new front fascia and a grille design that lowers the headlamps to emphasize the Silverado’s strength and stability. On LT trims and above, wing-shaped daytime running lamps were revised and feature animated walk-up and walk-away functions. On note, different trims receive different grille designs.

In addition to a unique exterior, the ZR2 comes with a black hood insert, a distinct grille with integrated lighting, ZR2 badges, and 18-inch wheels. The High Country trims come with additional chrome in the grilles and wheels.

Available features include twelve tie-down points, which come standard in the bed of the Work Truck, along with regular, extended, and crew cab configurations, as well as short, regular, and long beds.

Interior Review of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The centerpiece of the Silverado 1500’s interior is a 13.4-inch touchscreen along with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Interior features include new available colors, seat designs, and premium materials, such as open-pore wood trim on the console, upper glove box, and doors, standard leather seating, stainless steel speaker grilles, among others.

Performance of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The Silverado 1500’s 2.7-liter engine receives significant enhancements in torque, going from 348 lb-ft in 2021 to 420 lb-ft in 2022. Towing with the 2.7-liter remains the same with a maximum of 9,600 pounds. The 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder received a 4,000-pound increase in towing capability, bringing it up to 13,300 pounds.

The Silverado has multiple powertrains to choose from: a 4.3-liter V6 with a six-speed automatic, a 2.7-liter turbocharged four cylinder, a 5.3-liter V8 with either a six, an eight, or 10-speed automatic, a 6.2-liter V8, and a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel four-cylinder.
